The Winter Arts Season
As part of my marketing role at the City of Perth in 2014 I worked on several aspects of the Winner Arts Season. The Season pulled together existing art shows held in Perth over the three months of winter and presented them as a season. We produced an advertising campaign, a website listing all shows, a high quality hard-copy program, a ‘Winter Bites’ discount booklet for food, and a series of Friday night music and food events called the ‘Winter Supper Club’ to celebrate the season. 2014 was the last year the Winter Arts Season ran in this format.
My main role was co-ordinating the program for the event. This involved reaching out to over 40 local arts organisations and venues and getting information and images on their upcoming shows. This also meant working with the marketing team to select the design for the hard-copy program and edit the content for publication and the website.
The Blogging Program
As part of this festival I co-ordinated a blogger program for the event. This involved reaching out to local Perth bloggers interested in covering content and actively involving them in the festival. A challenge for this project was that we were looking for a cross-section of coverage that would appeal to a general audience rather than genre-specific, technical coverage. So we approached lifestyle bloggers rather than genre-specific (art, theatre or film) bloggers.
Bloggers were provided easy access to event tickets, backstage access and talent for interviews. They were also given a profile on the Winter Arts Season website and an official ‘Winter Arts Season 2014’ blogger badge for their websites. In return they produced coverage for the Season on own sites (and social media channels) which was also cross-posted to the Winter Arts Season blog.
